Remember

Remember

Remembering when I was all small-
Safe while enveloped in my father’s arms,
My momma’s love,
The smile of a so close sister.

Not a care in the world
Not a sigh on my lips
Not a sad heart
Not a gap

Remembering when I was starting to grow-
Happy while guided around every single corner,
Every big question,
The time I couldn’t pray.

Not an unanswered question
Not a confused heart
Not a fear to ask
Not a frown

Realizing now how fast our very big ball spins-
Flying around in circles making us another day older,
Taking time away,
Adding unknown things.

Not a moment to breathe
Not a way to rewind
Not a spot to rest
Not a take-two

Realizing how precious each day is-
Sitting around cracking jokes in pajamas,
Watching movies,
With a brother that’s leaving.

Not a way to stop it
Not a will to try
Not a regret
Not a “bye”

How true. :) I liked the ending alot -- it concluded this whole poem quite well.

"It is not the length of life, but the depth of life." Ralph Waldo Emerson
