Poised

Poised,

Ready to strike.

Sword raised,

Pencil raised,

Ready to strike

At the enemy

With raised

Sword,

With raised

Pencil.

A sweeping motion,

The enemy blocks.

What next?

Write,

Block.

Write,

Block.

Write.

The room fills

With loud sounds

Of clanging swords

And rustling papers.

Poised.

A pen is a sword is a pen. :) I really like your poetry.

I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right. --The Book Thief

I wrote this as I was working on a descriptive speech about writing. I was going to use it in my speech, but it would have made my speech too long and my speech teacher is very particular about the timing of our speeches. I liked it though, so I thought I'd share. I'm glad you liked it!   :)

See him with his books:
Tree beside the brooks,
Drinking at the root
Till the branch bear fruit.
See him with his pen:
Written line, and then,
Better thought preferred,
Deep from in the Word.
