The Gifted: Part 2. Prologue

Prologue             My mouth dropped open and, if there had been any flies this high up, I probably would have swallowed quite a few before I was able to speak.             “I’m prophesied to do what?” I said, complete astonishment and disbelief invading my voice. “Okay, I’ve been here for less than an hour, and already we’ve come to the conclusion that I am the fulfillment of some prophesy. Can we say CRAZY? Or maybe the better word would be insane.”             Phaller glared at me, warning me to hold my tongue.             “You are the only fourth generation Gifted that we have ever seen,” Corree replied “and your father is one of us, but does not know it. You fit the prophesy exactly.”             I couldn’t help but be at least a bit skeptical. I mean, only a week ago I was looking forward to being a somewhat low quality science teacher, and now I’m supposedly going to kill some guy I’d never even heard of before today. Still, I couldn’t argue with Corree’s logic.             But maybe I should go back in time a little bit and explain my life. Or rather, what my life used to be like. Oh and believe me, it is completely possible that I literally meant the thing about going back in time.

I like how you worked in the fall theme there. Is this a new character? The point-of-view switch confused me a bit.

I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right. --The Book Thief

actually, this is a whole seperate story. I wasn't actually going to start writing it until I had finished putting the first part on the computer, but ti fit the fall theme perfectly. Basically, this is still about the Gifted, but this is after the other part that I have been posting. The next chapter introduces the characters more, but I may not post it for a while. I am starting a kind of rotation so that I get all of my stories posted. I hope this didn't confuse you more.   :)

Tree beside the brooks,
Drinking at the root
Till the branch bear fruit.
See him with his pen:
Written line, and then,
Better thought preferred,
Deep from in the Word.
