A sudden rush of biting cold air followed them into the store, ushering them away from the world they knew. Melody let the door shut behind them and pulled the sketch out of her pocket. She held it up in front of her, then took it away and glanced around the room.             It was exactly the same! Well, not exactly, but very similar. Normally, this would freak Melody out more than a little, but today was not a normal day. The only thing missing was the man in her sketch.             “What on earth!” Sam exclaimed, catching a glimpse of the sketch. “I thought you’d never seen this place before.”             “I…” Melody paused, uncertain of how to answer. “I haven’t exactly.”             “Exactly? What’s that supposed to mean, ‘I haven’t exactly.’?” Sam sounded frustrated as she spoke. “Either you have seen it before or you haven’t.”             “Well, it’s just kind of weird. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this store before, but I’ve dreamed about it.” Melody’s voiced wavered as she spoke.             “This is the weirdest day ever.”             “Tell me about it. Maybe we should look around.”             Sam nodded and started to look through the strange items the filled the room. Melody started at the other side of the room, waiting for the man in her sketch to jump out from behind a statue and attack.             “Hey! Come looked at this, Melody.” Melody jerked her head in the direction of Sam’s voice and walked over to where she was standing beside a shelf filled with statues.             “Wow, where did all of this stuff come from?” She asked the air             Easter Island is where they came from, but I believe the real word you were searching for, Mistress Melody, would be when they came from. The air replied.             “Okay, not cool!” Melody shouted “This is already weird enough without you talking in a creepy voice, Sam!”             Sam looked at her in confusion. “I didn’t hear anything, and I certainly didn’t say anything.” She replied.             “But I heard you, unless there is someone else in the room.” Melody was beginning to really freak out.             Mistress Melody, I sense confusion in your voice. Will you allow me to show you the message you parents left? The voice came again.             “My parents? But my parents are dead. I never knew them.” Melody answered the voice.             “Who are you talking to?” Sam asked, looking at Melody like she was crazy.             Mistress Melody, if you wish me to I can project my words into the other being’s ears as well.             “Yes!” Melody shouted “Yes, do it!”             No need to shout, Mistress Melody. I can hear you perfectly well if you only think of what you wish to say.             Sam’s eyes widened and she threw her hands over her mouth to keep herself from screaming. Knight and Valiant began to bark at the air as the voice began to speak again.             Oh dear, I seem to have made a miscalculation and have also connected to the beasts’ minds as well. The voice sounded almost as if it was trying not to laugh Allow me to introduce myself, Mistress Melody, I am The Time Store and I can’t wait to go on our first adventure together!             Sam and Melody looked at each other, eyes wide with astonishment. If the eyes are indeed the windows to a person’s soul, then Melody and Sam would have seen identical speechless astonishment and fear welling up in each other. The dogs began barking again, and the girls ran towards the door in a desperate attempt to escape this impossible room.

This is awesome. :) But I don't think I would have run...

I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right. --The Book Thief

I couldn't tell whether I wanted to laugh or cry. The dialog between Melody and Sam is perfect and the Time Store reminded me of a butler who hasn't been able to do his job for years. I think my favorite part is where Melody "asked the air" and the air answered. Gold.
I must say that for my being a normally unemotional guy, this story nearly has me fangirling.

I judge from this chapter and the word "petrichor" that you are a Doctor Who fan, yes? Well, it's not really relevant to this chapter, but I definitely like stories about time travel and odd families.
