The Water Horse: Chapter Three

Mel plopped down on her hotel bed that night, questions running through her confused mind.
Why would Gran make up ridiculous lies like that? But what if she wasn't lying? What if the did see, or at least think she saw, the water horses? Mel grabbed her black hair and pulled on it. I really need to shut up and go to bed, she thought.
She tossed the blanket over her and closed her eyes, trying to sleep.
Mel dreamt of water horses, Gran, Mom and Dad, her best friend Waylon, basically everything going on in her life. In one of the dreams, there was a red door that Gran stood by, and a blue one that her family, dog and Waylon stood by.
"Melissa, come with me. You will find treasures unimaginable. You will be able to ride the seas on your majestic water horse," Gran told her.
Mel stood, uncertain, and looked to the blue door.
"Melissa, please don't leave us!" Mel's parents cried in unison.
Mel's golden retriver, Sadie, looked at her with sad eyes. "Mel, don't leave. I need you, you're my best friend!" Waylon said. His blue eyes were teary.
"I don't know!" Mel sobbed, going down on her knees.
"Treasures...."
"We need you Mel...."
"Ride the seas......"
"Please don't leave...."
"STOP!" Mel screamed.
"Ding ling ling ling!" Sadie started saying.
What?
Mel popped out of her dream-bubble.
"Are you alright?" Dad asked, touching her sweaty face.
"O-of course I'm alright. What are you talking about?" Mel said, sitting up in bed. She was still shaken. Having to choose, ugh. It sent shivers down her spine.
"You were screaming and thrashing around. At one point you started crying. You've been doing it for about ten minutes," Mom said stepping in next to Dad.
"Oh," Mel said, still slightly shaking. "It was just a dream, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. After all, nothing like that will happen. Yeah," Mel said, talking to herself more than her parents.
She carefully slipped off the bed, her legs feeling like jelly, and walked gingerly to the bathroom to get dressed.
