Midst the tossing and turning of a restless night,
Imagination takes up glorious flight;
Probing for a rhyming pattern new and unique
Or for word choice that our generation will seek.
New stories to give to people both young and old,
Strategic sentences or curious words bold.
Tales of peaceful love or tempestuous passion,
Tripping lyrics of envy or sweet compassion.
A blank space of desert so barren and dreary,
Or mountainous heights to climb; broken, and weary.
A soul full of color but buried deep in dust;
Mind's labyrinth of articles covered in rust.
Star's dying embers map out a romantic plight;
Burnt images visualize a beautiful sight.
A writer's mind is a myriad of treasure:
Our blood, sweat and tears to consume at your leisure.
Posting this now because I'm pretty sure I'll be far too busy next week. This is one of my favorites. :)

Damari! I have read this every day since you posted this! I was trying to find the right words to comment on this. The problem is, I still can't find the words! This is at the tippy top of my favorites of your poetry! My favorite lines are:

You capture a writer's mind with all its clarity and confusion at the same time. This is definitely how my mind works! I make up stories every day, every spare moment in my head to amuse myself. I was surprised to learn recently that most people don't think that way, or have that amount of imagination.
I love how you mention this process all happens at night in this poem. All of my best ideas have come to me in the middle of the night (I started leaving a notebook by my bed for said ideas), and in the bathroom. My mom and I laugh all the time that my greatest ideas happen while taking a shower, drying my hair, or brushing my teeth. I wrote a award-winning poem that was published locally twice while brushing my teeth. My mom thought the house was on fire or something because I ran out of the bathroom, toothpaste everywhere, still holding my toothbrush, shouting "Paper! I need PAPER!" You never know what grand ideas you will come up with ;) Keep churning out what's in your head my dear! This is just perfection! Blessings to you!
