A tempestuous sea is surrounding me
I’m in a raft built with my hands
The waves toss and pull me with glee
I start to drown, hopeless of land
Falling upon the broken boards
I cry out in grief and shame
I hadn’t sought or searched my Lord
And so I was to blame
I wept aloud distraught and broken
Begging for forgiveness there
But then the sun began to open
Leaving the sea calm and fair
And so my raft was pieced together
When my morning-opened eyes
Saw the rope that tied together
My little raft on wave-crest highs
Before too long the shore I saw
As it were, just a little ways out
The dark had made it seem so far
And storm had hid it with its clouds
I cast myself upon the land
And sunk onto my broken knees
I kissed the wet and gritty sand
“Never again” I swore I’d leave

Wow... so true and so
Wow... so true and so relatable. I get really happy to see poetry in verse for some reason, and your meter in my head was very solemn, sort of humble in a way. I loved the way it was written and the material was very much needed!
Love it!

I love the way you described
I love the way you described this Damaris! It's a really great picture of what happens and what it feels like when we try on our own to make it through the storms of life. I especially like this line:
"The dark had made it seem so far
And storm had hid it with its clouds"
It just reminded me of the lie that the enemy tells us that we'll never get out of our current situation, but that's not true. They're only temporary struggles, and God has amazing plans for us for the future!
Really like this! Thank you for sharing! <3
