Quarantine
Masks and evasive glances
Huddled groups
And
Spaced out picnics
Long lines for household needs
Hurricanes
Then rainbows
Promises of hugs
Smiles through technology
And waves across the hall
~
Lazy days and lunch in bed
Blankets on the couch and
Romantic comedies
Popcorn and dark chocolate
Date nights in, and
Homemade steak
Drive-through milkshakes
Walks down empty city streets
Holding hands with
My love
~
Feeling sick
Uncertainty brewing
Queasiness and
Headaches all night
Crying because
I hate not knowing
But you are there with a hug
And sweet
Reassurance
~
Two blue lines
A happy squeal
Surprises thrown out the window
“I’m pregnant!”
I wept into his shoulder
Then
We loaded into the car, and
Went to buy a onesie
Quarantine or, no
Life moves forward
And joy
Is achievable
2020 has been a difficult year but it’s safe to say it’s been one of my favorites so far :)
