When Jesus died, he had been betrayed by a friend, chastised by his own, and forsaken by his Father. He had no one left in the world or in all the vastness and void of space. No one in heaven- but one in Hell who would've readily claimed Jesus' soul if God's plan showed fault; but the plan had yet to be fulfilled. When Jesus died he had no one, save for a few loyal followers who had not given up hope in the plan that Jesus had revealed to them. This plan, that Jesus completed not in his death, but after it. For his crucifixion portrayed his human weakness, and if in that moment when he died he had ceased to live for all eternity, then the many who questioned the validity of his message would have been proved correct. But Jesus overcame the shackles that bound him, for death lacked the strength to hold him down. In fact, after three days he resurrected himself and was victorious over that which breaks a mere human.

Jesus wasn't a mere human--yet he took on the appearance and limitations of one so that he could show us it is indeed possible to understand and overcome sin. He experienced temptation by Satan in the desert; he experienced loss when his friend Lazarus died. He experienced persecution when he was beaten by the Romans and even mocked and spat upon by the Jews, and he experienced loneliness. He experienced loneliness when, right before he committed his spirit into his father's hands,he reflected upon the fact that he had been betrayed by a friend, chastised by his own, and forsaken by his Father. His former friend and those who chastised him now saw their wrong, and his Father has once again welcomed Jesus into his loving arms- and God has room in his arms for those who are lonely.
