From Sea to Tea

Push of from shore!
Cast off the more!
My sweetheart, I’m leaving for sea,
Tell mother, I shall miss her tea.

Heave and then ho!
Tossed high and low!
Hard work away on this galley,
but men are brave, forth we sally.

The rain now pours!
The storm it roars!
But battle, men, against the sea.
Battle now, soon you’ll be free.

Loyalty great!
To die is fate!
All is fair in love and in war
we have much to live and die for.

Oh sun, shine bright!
Give us they light!
My sweetheart, do not forget me
if I happen to drown at sea.

Our faces set!
Friends we have met!
We are leaving now for home,
parting where we battled foam

At last toward home!
Above the foam!
My sweetheart, I’m coming for thee,
Tell mother put on the hot tea.

I did like the rhyme and rhythm. This poem is just fun to read. Great poem, and glad to see you on here. Welcome to Apricotpie!

This poem is really good. I like how you tie in the tea. Also the rhythm was merry and made me think of ships. I'm glad to see more writers on here - welcome and enjoy! :)
