So?

As I sat in the lobby of the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) and looked at the screen of my phone, I realized I had been waiting for over an hour. To my increasing frustration, the woman next to me, who had just arrived, had her ticket number called immediately. Gloomily, I began to wonder, “Is there a better, more efficient way to do this?”
Later, as I scrolled through an article on my laptop about the current U.S administration, I had the same question. Is there a more efficient way to do things? Yes, I think there is. But clearly, the politicians and bureaucrats are not going to find it. The answer lies with the American people, as it has since the U.S. government was established. ("We, the people...")
Whether it seems so or not, the law is dictated by the will of the people. It is the people who elect the politicians and the politicians who run the government. They are representatives of the people, and they govern within the limits of the will of the people.
And so the answer to a better, more efficiently run government lies with us. The people. We should choose to take action with a clear, defined goal. But then…I might be writing this because I spent two boring hours in a flimsy plastic chair at the DMV.
