The Beginning of Dragons

Come sit down. I will tell you a story.
This story was told to me by a wise old dragon. He says that the story is true. Whether or not that is so, is up to you to decide. Now, listen to the tale...

Long ago, our Grandfather Sol brought forth life with Grandmother Luna and created our Mother: Earth.
Mother created all the children you see today; the cattle, fish and birds. Then she wanted to make children that were like Grandfather. These were fiery, passionate creatures. But these children burned Mother and their brothers and sisters, and Mother cried out in pain. Grandmother saw how these children hurt Mother, so she trapped the fiery children in stone. But Grandfather was kind to these children, and carved them suits of armour out of their stone prisons. This, dearest, is how we became dragons.

Now, is that really how dragons came to be? I cannot say. This is simply what some of them believe...

Seriously, in modern fiction, dragons are either atheistic, or it isn't addressed. Why is that?

Gee, that really got me thinking.

Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” – Winnie The Pooh

My answer would be because their father is Melkor, but I suppose that's debatable.

When we were talking about this you mentioned your dragons being a lot more like eastern dragons, which I researched and found that they are actually elementally associated with water, never fire. Fire is the realm of the Chinese phoenix.

I also seem to remember saying I disagreed with so many other dragon standards that I had reinvented them. And, I'm certain the water dragons have a different story they tell. Probably with the moon as their deus primus...
